a few changes
I did some tidying up of the forums/comments theming, made some minor changes to how it look along the way, any issues let us know.
Also we have a new front page at http://libcom.org - feedback very welcome. It's nowhere near finished but enough better than the old one that we might as well switch.
Just looked at the new front page - looks good but i can't offer much of a critical evaluation as i was distracted by the pic of chocolate - i am afraid it is my equivalent of a topless photo.
However, yeah, at a glance, nicely laid out - not too busy but enough content to engage with and the options clearly laid out.

Front page looks great.
It is def. not an issue but on a minor note i find the words "Post new comment" appearing in such a big font a tad distracting.
also, each post now appears with no intervening space, which is uncomfortable.
but definitely the front page looks clearer

Try pressing shift F5 or shift refresh, you might stale data in your browser. If you don't, post which browser you're using (oh I remember, IE6 grrr).
I'll slightly reduce the Post new comment size.

.
yeah, but i can use mozilla too. i'll report back.
ok i used mozilla and the posts are separated. 's cool.
Front page looks real nice! Nice spacing and the photo's at the bottom are right eye candy.
Thanks people. It's not done yet, but good to know it's not worse than the old one...
Catch, could we have a link somewhere under the news stories to 'More headlines' or something?
Front page does indeed look good, but there's a couple of errors (which I'm surprised noone has noticed yet!)
1: The word uprisings links to the celebrity scabs section - the image links to the right place though.
2: The word "Your Work" links to /taking-action while the image links to /industrial-action. I would assume they're meant to go to the same place? Incidentally, the /industrial-action page has the heading "Taking Action", to confuse things more!
Otherwise, nice work, although I do wonder why celebrity scabs deserve such a prominent showing....or is that just gonna be while the WGA strike is on? In which case there's prob some good ones worth adding (not volunteering though, I'm real busy at the moment unfortunately)

Copy / paste errors. My favourite kind.
Fixed both. Thanks!

Probably yes. I did these just as placeholders, but got impatient so left them there putting it live. We'll eventually have a pool of 20-30 features slowly rotating in this section with a bt of luck.

Sounds great.
It sounds so easy when I type it like that
on a tag note, we should change to "wildcat" for strikes + on-job-action. and not have the word strikes twice

Yes we should.
We could probably also make those (and general strike) children of 'strikes' so we don't need to double tag every time. Can do that for odd things in free-tagging without taking them out of the vocabulary.
I've made a few performance tweaks as well. If you notice anything weird, please say so. Hopefully you'll also notice the site running a bit faster as well.
catch - where I am typing now there is normally all of that 'quote' etc stuff just above the box. It's not there for me now... Knowing I'm a dipshit whenit comes to computers and all other things tech can you in a nice and gentle way tell me what I've done wrong or how to fix this please. Cheers.

Nah Gregg, my fault. Some of this stuff makes certain behaviour a bit more unstable, this was one example unfortunately. Switched it back for now!
Cheers mate, thought I'd done broke the internet

all the best.

Links to external sites seem to no longer automatically open in new tabs/windows. I noticed it on this post: http://libcom.org/forums/thought/anarchist-views-city-25012008#comment-261034
but it appears to be the case across the whole site.
captain. Ought to work now, let us know if any issues. I changed the way this is done so it might be a little different.
Curiously, in IE6, the commas separating the online users also disappears. Are you using the piece of code for listing online users that I wrote for you last year?

crikey, they do!

We're using theme_item_list plus css doing display: inline and li:after - I think it's different to the one you did for us. IE6 doesn't support the :after pseudo class, so no commas.

It is def. not an issue but on a minor note i find the words "Post new comment" appearing in such a big font a tad distracting. Perhaps a couple of sizes smaller so it is still noticeable but is not so much screaming out??
