Yo, can someone settle an argument?
Which Irish rebel was famously smeared as a puff, allowing him to bem executed?
Dara claims there were no gay Irish rebels, clearly forgetting Brian from Big Brother, I'm certain there was one. I think they used some of his letters he wrote to turn opiniona gainst him, and get him executed?

Casement is also interesting as he seems to have had some connections with London anarchists - two of the women on his defence committee had previously been part of Kroptkins circle in London for instance.

I was talking about Casement last night with jackwhite and some others after the CI meeting. Funny that.
There's a big debate about whether or not he was gay. It was long claimed that the black diaries were faked. But recent analysis (handwriting experts ink samples and comparison etc.) show that they were real.

I came across it in a biography I read of him from the Cabra library nine months or so back but I don't think I wrote down the source at the time - it was just mentioned in passing. Its a bit like the 4 IWW guys who took part in the 1916 rising, a point of interest that as yet leads nowhere. (BTW in terms of casualties 5% of the rebel dead were IWW members as all 4 were killed or executed).
